A Quiet Day for Lent - The Colour Purple with Peter Lippiett

Spielberg made Alice Walker's novel The Color Purple into a major file 20 years ago, with Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah Winfrey - "Things is gonna be changin' around here...."
This day of quiet reflection as Lent begins has nothing to do with the film - except for that quotation. Purple is the colour of royalty and kingship, of wine and celebration, of spilt blood. Lent turns our thinking to the cross - and so changes our notions of power, of how, what and why we celebrate, of life and Death.
An application form is available from the Minster.£7.50 for the event or £30 to attend all days taking place in Newport Minster and mainland venues.
